TIAA President and CEO Thasunda Brown Duckett is overseeing retirement solutions in the interim, a TIAA spokesperson told PLANADVISER. “We look forward to announcing her successor in due course,” the spokesperson wrote in an email.

Gibson joined TIAA in 2022 as senior executive vice president and chief institutional client officer and was named CEO of retirement solutions in 2024, according to her LinkedIn profile. Before TIAA, she was executive vice chair of Loop Capital, the Chicago investment bank, brokerage and advisory firm.

TIAA framed the change as a matter of timing rather than performance. “As we continue executing on our long-term strategy, it was agreed it was the appropriate time to transition leadership,” the spokesperson wrote.
