Voya selects UnqorkAI to add AI tooling to plan onboarding

The recordkeeper, an Unqork customer since 2019, built sponsor and producer onboarding applications on the platform; the new work adds AI-native tooling to that base.

15-second brief
  • Voya will use Unqork's AI-native platform to streamline retirement plan onboarding, enhance customer experiences and improve operational efficiency, according to the company.

  • Unqork describes UnqorkAI as an AI-native platform for highly regulated industries to build and run AI-generated applications with greater speed, predictability and governance.

Voya Financial said it selected UnqorkAI to support AI-enabled retirement experiences and workflow initiatives, expanding a relationship it describes as a seven-year partnership with Unqork and one that dates to Voya becoming an Unqork customer in 2019.

Voya will use Unqork's AI-native platform to streamline retirement plan onboarding, enhance customer experiences and improve operational efficiency, according to the company. The recordkeeper has already built and managed its Sponsor Onboarding and Producer Onboarding applications on Unqork, which it says replaced legacy complexity with streamlined operational workflows.

"As an early adopter of UnqorkAI, we see an opportunity to enhance onboarding workflows and experiences while maintaining strict security, cost controls, enterprise governance and responsible AI practices," said Rajat Kalia, chief technology officer of workplace solutions at Voya Financial. Unqork chief executive and founder Gary Hoberman said Voya "is a pioneer in delivering best-in-class retirement experiences, while proving that speed and governance can co-exist when you eliminate technical debt at the root."

Unqork describes UnqorkAI as an AI-native platform for highly regulated industries to build and run AI-generated applications with greater speed, predictability and governance. The scope Voya announced centers on onboarding and enterprise workflows, and Voya's own statement pairs the adoption with governance and cost-control conditions rather than describing specific applications it will automate.
